Vertical business software

This page lists investors from the Cut Through Venture investor database that back Australian enterprise and business software companies, both vertical software built for a specific industry and horizontal tools sold across industries.

Enterprise software led all sectors by capital in 2023 with $505M per the State of Australian Startup Funding 2023. The market has since split hard between vertical and horizontal. In Q2 2026 vertical software raised $822M across 39 deals and took 94% of software capital, while horizontal software raised $48M across 10 deals. 72% of investors said they preferred vertical software and none preferred horizontal, citing workflow depth, domain data and customer lock-in as protection against AI-driven commoditisation.
